Group Finance Director – Leisure / Travel

Client: The Client was a significant travel business operating through a number of brands.
Position: Group Finance Director

It wished to replace its incumbent Group Finance Director.

The objective was to inject a greater degree of leadership over its Finance team and to effect an improvement to its morale and motivation. Its aim was to ensure that the information needs of the business, particularly in support of decision-making, could be relied upon and be made available on a timely basis. In particular, there was a clear need to appoint into this key Board position an individual who would provide support the Group CEO as a full Business Partner, someone both strategic and pro-active and not merely reactive.

Candidates needed to have had prior experience of the travel sector and most certainly operational finance exposure within a fast moving consumer service sector.

A number of candidates and sources were approached, and were fully evaluated before a final shortlist was submitted to the client. The successful candidate was an individual who, despite having been on a much higher package, with a much larger PLC, was able to see the value in the role by way of it’s clear career/CV development potential – a message that both Bailey Montagu and the client worked on in their very early stages of candidate engagement.
